“Are you ready for a GOOD TIME?” AC/DC couldn’t have said it better when it comes to Kim! Her portrait shoot at Kaya Vineyards was so much fun! From her knowledge of winemaking to selling real estate, Kim’s vivacious spirt is infectious!
Kim and Dave, her husband of 33 years, are fairly new to north Georgia, but they are not new to wine. After owning and operating Pratt Vineyards and DK Cellars Winery for 19 years in California, they have set out to show the world that Georgia has some “pretty spectacular wineries” too.
Kim & Merlot
Because she intimately knows wines and winemaking, I asked Kim for a connoisseur’s description of her favorite wine. Her fun personality shown through when she responded with, “I like it or I don’t. It really is that simple.”
Little did she know, I wanted to apply that description to her because to me, she embodies the idea that women are like fine wines. They get better with age. Therefore, I had to go to the internet to find a description of one of her favorites- Merlot. Bingo! I found it thanks to winemag.com, and it definitely can be used to describe her. “Known for its soft, sensual texture and approachable style, it’s made from… grapes that can adapt to a variety of climates.” What do you think?
Kim across the country
Kim arrived here ready to get to know the area and become part of it. While buying her charming cabin home, she found her “Georgia family” in Gary and Liz from Better Homes and Gardens Metro Brokers. They made her feel so comfortable and at home, she decided to get her real estate license and go to work with them. Kim says it will also help her, “meet people and learn more about the new area I call home now.”
Like I said before, Kim is like fine wine, and fine wine can be complex. In addition to being a winemaker and real estate agent, she is also a grandmother of eight. In fact, they are the reason she and her husband decided to move across the country. She says “being a Grandparent is one of God’s greatest gifts.” I would argue that having a Grandmother like Kim is also a great gift to her grandchildren.
Kim’s take on North Georgia Wine
“The wine is very good. There are some pretty spectacular wineries here and a lot of them to explore. Growing grapes here is very different than in California – mainly due to the rain. Most tasting rooms serve “wine slushies”, which I had never heard of, but they taste great on a hot summer day in Georgia!”
Dear Kim,
I have had so much fun getting to know you! I loved doing your portrait shoot at Kaya Vineyards. You are an amazing lady with so much to offer. I love seeing women who don’t let time and life get them down. Similar to grapes, you have crushed challenges to make your life a brilliant wine! I love your fun personality, and how you always make me feel welcome and comfortable. I can’t wait to visit some Georgia wineries with you and try some wine slushies together. Sweet white wine for me, please. Maybe you can teach me to enjoy the reds.
